The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) is a body corporate established under Act 35 of 1999 by the Federal Government of Nigeria to improve the health of all Nigerians at an affordable cost.
The NHIS Act is the statutory authority for the Scheme’s benefits programmes as well sets the general rules and guidelines for the operation of the Scheme.
Total Health Trust Limited was accredited as a National HMO by the NHIS in the year 2004 with number HMO/02. The scheme however did not commence until July 2005.
As at January 2008, THT manages over 120, 109 enrollees through a network of 1, 408 providers nationwide. |
